what are we talking about? >> jimmy: the white house easter egg roll. >> steve: whoa. what's about it? >> jimmy: that happened today, and it was really cute. you know, they had a little podium, a miniature podium where kids could pretend to be trump's press secretary. look at this easter -- it's true. this is real. [ laughter ] that's the expression that americans have had for about 100 days now. >> steve: what? [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: that bunny took a a look at trump, said, "oh, my god! a talking carrot!" [ laughter ] wait. can we see him without his mask on? see, i knew trump wasn't -- [ laughter ] no, no, the easter bunny. no, the easter -- oh, forget it. a lot of people are talking about this, though. the national anthem was played at the white house today, and trump actually forgot to put his hand over his heart. take a look at melania here. ♪ oh say can you see [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: yeah. she was like, "just pretend you have one, and put your hand over it." [ laughter and applause ] it seems like trump is always fighting with the media. over the weekend, though, his son don jr. posted a photo where he's wearing a new t-shirt. check this out.

[ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] nobody's screams like i scream. some entertainment news, here. the latest "fast and the furious" movie, "the fate of the furious," had one of the biggest easter box office openings of all time. yeah. even jesus was like, "those guys came back again?" [ laughter and applause ] "even i stopped at one sequel." [ light laughter ] but this is interesting. a new poll finds that more than half american adults say they've smoked marijuana. [ laughter ] the easter bunny takes him out. >> jimmy: oh, my -- [ light laughter ] on the bright side of that, bunny just got a job at united airlines. [ cheers and applause ] i am a mess. i am, like, scramble -- my brain is scrambled. i don't know how you do it every week, but, it was so much fun. i remember i was with lorne because we were doing the monologue. and i'm like, "what do we do for the monologue?" because we were trying to think of a good song to sing. i was texting questlove. i'm like, "do you got any ideas for a song?" and i was like, "ugh." i was like, "really, just any idea coming up with ideas." and i go -- i e-mailed lorne. i'm like, "wang chung, everybody?"

i didn't hear back from him after that. [ light laughter ] then i go, "'let's dance'?" and he was like, "i like that. let's do that. bowie. that's great." so, we did that, and we called nile rodgers. and he came and played with the band and who, you know, he played on the original and produced the original. but -- right? produced it, right? >> questlove: yeah, he produced it. >> jimmy: yeah, it's -- he's amazing, but he came in, and everything just came together. what a great, talented cast, writers, the crew, everybody, hair and makeup. i just loved everybody very much. so thank you to lorne and "saturday night live." a triumph tr6, and his longest trip he took in that car is from ohio to tampa. for this next one -- it's always fun to rock out on a a road trip. can you guys do, like, a a metallica? [ laughter ] >> honestly, like some of it -- >> jimmy: yeah. >> but no, i think we did -- i think we did a good job. we had cake and sandwiches and corn -- cornhole. so that was good. but i don't know because i think people have crazy expectations nowadays. because i was looking for a a birthday present for him, don't laugh, in an antique store, but anyway -- [ laughter ] >> jimmy: wow, oh man, kids love antiques. babies loves antiques. >> oh my god, you know what goes great with babies, dust. so -- so i'm in the store. >> jimmy: little faberge eggs. they love that. >> and the owner is asking me -- he's asking what i'm looking for, why am i looking for it. i tell him. and he gets so excited because he had a daughter. and he's like, "oh, my god, oh, my god, i have the best idea for your son's birthday." and i was like, "really, what?" and he goes, "well, i know this woman and she dresses up a a miniature pony like a unicorn and then that unicorn pulls a

child's inside of it." [ laughter ] and i was like -- >> jimmy: i'm in. i'm in, by the way. i would totally do that. >> good for you, i would as well. i -- >> jimmy: for me. i would do it for my birthday. >> you'd arrive on the sled. >> jimmy: just arrive in a a unicorn? i mean -- the best. >> jimmy: does he enjoy the city -- coming to new york? >> yeah, oh yeah, we had a a great day today. i took him to a park, for security reasons, not any particular one, just a park. >> jimmy: okay, yeah, we don't know what park, a random park. >> and he loves swings. so i was taking him on the swings. and i noticed that all these other kids, they were coming down the slide. and it looked, you know, really like an unusual slide, like maybe it was built before they had child safety measures in place. [ light laughter ] but -- maybe like a rockefeller built it. it was gorgeous and i noticed the kids weren't going that fast, so i thought, okay, i'll bring johnny on the slide. so i go up to the top and all these -- they're little but they -- they were cutting in front of us. >> jimmy: yep. >> and i couldn't say anything because i'm an adult. but i was just like, all right. so anyway, i was going up the side of the slide -- >> jimmy: you can give them a a little shove.

brats. >> no, because their moms were there. >> jimmy: that makes it worse -- >> because their moms were there and then as i'm going up slowly, the moms kind of start to recognize me. so i get to the top of the slide and just for any girls in the audience, i'm in a skirt, which is dumb. so anyway, so i pull the skirt around me and i put johnny there, and we're going down the slide. now the moms are watching. and i'm like, "okay, here we go." so we go down, but what i hadn't thought about was physics. [ light laughter ] so -- like you have a 35-pound child going down it's one speed. you have me and my son, it's like not 35 pounds. so we just go around the corner and instead of slowing down like the other kids, we speed up. >> jimmy: yeah, you're going like -- >> so i'm holding johnny like this. [ laughter ] and it starts to go so fast. and all the moms are watching and i'm so self-conscious. and as it speeds up, my thoughts slow down and i just look ahead and i get very serious and very focused and i say, "i must stick this landing." [ laughter ] so i shoot off the slide with johnny and i go -- >> jimmy: yes! [ cheers ] ♪

[ light laughter ] >> jimmy: it was fun, huh? >> then we went back to the swings and stayed there forever. >> jimmy: that's exactly -- that's what you have to do. >> away from the slide. >> jimmy: i want to talk about this movie, "colossal." congratulations on this. >> thank you. >> jimmy: how did you come up with the idea or who came up with the idea or how did you -- because it's really cool. >> thank you. >> jimmy: and it's a really fun story and you're getting great reviews, deservedly so but, it's a good buzz. someone called it like an instant classic. i mean -- >> i know -- >> jimmy: it's so different and unique and cool. but who is it directed by? >> nacho vigalondo. >> jimmy: do i know him? >> if you've been to "fantastic fest," you know him. >> jimmy: then i -- then i don't know him. [ laughter ] what is "fantastic fest?" >> "fantastic fest" is -- is a a film festival. >> jimmy: i didn't know this -- >> genre movies, it's so much fun. >> jimmy: oh, really? >> i mean, i've never been, but it sounds fun. >> so he's a spanish director and this movie just kind of -- i don't know. he just had an idea for a long time, he wanted to make a kaiju movie. and it sounded sweet to me and i loved it. so -- >> jimmy: it's like a -- it's so -- i don't know how to describe it really. it's like a godzilla type of movie, but not really because there's a giant lizard. >> it's a lizard monster. >> jimmy: a lizard monster -- >> so, okay -- so, here's the thing, it's probably -- >> jimmy: that's godzilla, that's close kind of, right? >> definitely i think close. but if -- if you're interested in the movie, i would say don't listen to this part, but -- and it would be rude to tell you to turn the channel, so i'm not going to do that. but just maybe mute it. and i'll let you know when it's done. okay, so -- >> jimmy: wait -- wait -- we'll wave like this when she's done. >> when i'm done. when i'm done. so it's in the movie, i play -- i'm fond of calling her a party bus and the wheels just fell off. and so i have to go home to the home to where i grew up and i run into my childhood friend played by jason sudeikis, he's a wonderful performer -- >> jimmy: we love jason sudeikis. >> love jason sudeikis -- >> jimmy: yeah, he's great. >> thank you.
